Austin MLK Day of Service |

Volunteer slots are filled, but items are still needed. Please sign up to pledge to donate items or sign up as Donation Captains, or contact mlkdayofservice@hrcaustin.org directly.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service – a "day on, not a day off." It is a way to transform Dr. King's life and teachings into community action to help meet national challenges, bring together people, strengthen communities, and benefit those who serve. There are TWO ways YOU can help: by donating items and volunteering your time. To Donate Items: HRC and LifeWorks are collecting the following items to create care bags for LGBT homeless youth. Please donate them in bags or boxes labeled "MLK Day of Service."
Please consider donating any quantity of these essential items and dropping them off at the following location and dates. Please drop them off in bags or boxes labeled "MLK Day of Service." Thursday, January 10 - Monday, January 21 To Volunteer: On Monday, January 21, we will need volunteers to assemble care bags for LGBT homeless youth. Volunteer training and orientation, food, and beverages will be provided. Monday, January 21 For more information about donating items or volunteering, please contact mlkdayofservice@hrcaustin.org.
