Bayard Rustin at Lincoln Theater
1215 U Street, NW
Washington, D.C. 20009
Bayard Rustin wore many hats during his lifetime. But he is best remembered as chief organizer of the historic 1963 March on Washington. A trusted adviser to the late Martin Luther King, Jr., Rustin was instrumental in setting the stage for many of America’s greatest civil rights victories. The American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the A. Phillip Randolph Institute, and the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) have joined together to host A Tribute to Bayard Rustin and the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington. The evening will celebrate the life and legacy of Bayard Rustin, as well as screen a segment of the award-winning documentary Brother Outsider. HRC is a proud cosponsor of the event.
