Join the San Antonio Human Rights Campaign for a Military
Appreciation Movie Event. We will be screening, Soldier's Girl, a 2003 drama film produced by Showtime, that is based on a true story: the relationship between Private Barry Winchell and Calpernia Addams, and the events that led up to Barry's murder by fellow soldiers.

In 1999 when Barry and Calpernia met, the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT) was the law of the land. Since then times have changed. Thanks to the work of many groups, including HRC, DADT was repealed in 2009 and the 2013 Supreme Court DOMA decision has caused the military to start recognizing same-sex marriages. However there is still inequality in the military, for example, transgender soldiers are not covered under the repeal of DADT.

With your movie admission, you will receive a one year HRC
membership and be a part of the fight for equality.
