Great news! After months of urging by HRC, the U.S. Department of Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service have just announced a ruling that ensures all legally-married same-sex couples, regardless of where they live, will be recognized for federal tax purposes.
This is a huge victory in the fight for full equality for same-sex couples, and we want everyone to have this information as soon as possible. Will you take a quick moment to spread the word about this exciting news by sharing the image below with your friends on Facebook?
If you aren't on Facebook, that's okay. Just forward this email along to your friends or family who need to be aware of this incredible decision.
HRC has been urging the White House and federal agencies to make any necessary policy changes to ensure the broadest implementation of a favorable decision on DOMA ever since the Supreme Court announced it would take up Edie Windsor's case last December.
And just this month, we sent a letter to the Treasury Department and the IRS urging them to recognize all lawfully-married same-sex couples for tax purposes. And they have thankfully listened.
Day by day, with progress like this, we are moving this country closer to full equality, where all couples are recognized equally under the law. Please consider making a donation today to get us one step closer to that dream.
Your support makes all of our work possible, and I thank you for standing with us.
