Two of our nation's most infamous anti-gay laws are about to get their reckoning at the Supreme Court: the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which denies tens of thousands of legally married, same-sex Americans the full benefits of marriage; and California's infamous Prop. 8, which destroyed the hopes of thousands by banning marriage for same-sex couples.

As the nation's attention focuses on these historic cases, we're making sure America understands the very real impacts these laws have on ordinary families. Take this quick survey about how marriage bans and DOMA affect you or those you care about – we'll use your answers to educate the public and our nation's leaders.

	An American cannot sponsor his or her foreign spouse for legal residency or citizenship, often forcing the couple to choose between love and country.
	Surviving same-sex spouses cannot access "mothers' and fathers'" benefits under Social Security, which provide financial support to a surviving spouse to care for that couple's children.
	A married employee is not allowed to take federal family and medical leave to care for a sick same-sex spouse.
	When one spouse dies, the surviving spouse may face an unfair tax on inheritance that different-sex married couples do not face, which can result in losing the family home.
