Those two words are why we still need to fight for Equality.
LGBT/Gay rights are Human Rights. While we have made amazing progress in equality there are those who still want to treat us as second class citizens and deny our fundamental rights. As much as I dislike running, I hate being treated like a second class citizen even more. So my "once and done" mantra of last year must be put on hold so I, with your help, can continue to fight the pushback from those who cannot accept us.
Your help is critical in this fight. Knowing you support LGBT rights means so much to me. Last year so many generously gave what they could. Every donation helps and it meant so much to me personally to have your support. I really cannot express how much that meant to me and my self confidence. It was not easy for me to come out and it took 30 years of internal conflict to finally accept myself.
I think it's pretty simple. People should be treated equally. But in too many schools, too many offices, and too many hospitals, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people are subjected to bullying or unfair treatment.
We've come a long way in changing people’s hearts and minds, but there's so much more to do and the Human Rights Campaign is working day in and day out to push for equality all around the country.
That's why I'm running the Marine Corps Marathon on October 25th. I'm going to race my way through Washington DC to help raise money for HRC's incredible efforts – and I'd love to get your help.
Will you help me by making a tax-deductible donation to the Human Rights Campaign to support my run and this critical civil rights group? Any amount you give now will go a long way for this important cause – and I'd be really, really grateful.
Thanks in advance for your help – I'm looking forward to race day, and can't wait to tell you all about it once I've crossed the finish line.
